Edvance: Predicting and Guiding Student Success via AI-Powered Early Interventions
Edvance is an AI-powered system designed to promote student success by enabling the early identification of at-risk learners and delivering timely, personalised, and actionable feedback. By analysing student engagement data from platforms like Moodle and Ed Lessons—such as time on task, quiz attempts, and forum participation—Edvance uses predictive AI models to forecast student performance on a weekly basis. Beyond performance forecasting, the system harnesses prescriptive and generative AI technologies to provide targeted feedback that guides students toward effective learning actions. Notably, the AI-generated feedback provided via Edvance exhibits a high degree of specificity, clarity, and practical value. Developed as a Chrome extension, Edvance can be seamlessly deployed across different learning management systems, supporting flexible and scalable integration in diverse educational contexts.

Output/Outcome:
Edvance has been successfully piloted in large-scale undergraduate and postgraduate units at Monash University across both the Clayton and Malaysia campuses, reaching over 3,500 students. The system demonstrated strong predictive performance, accurately identifying 84–91% of at-risk learners. Moreover, user evaluations revealed that the AI-generated feedback surpassed human-written feedback in readability, specificity, and practical applicability. These results highlight Edvance’s potential to enhance student learning through timely, personalised support at scale.
