People, Culture and Cybersecurity

People, Culture and Cybersecurity is driven by an interdisciplinary team that is studying the safety and experiences of people at the intersection of cybersecurity and digital transformation.

Research activities

  • Secondary analysis of cybersecurity maturity model reviews in Pacific nations.
  • Ethnographic study: Understanding experiences and perceptions of safety in digital environments.
  • Cabrini Aged Care Living Lab: Interdisciplinary collaboration between researchers in Design and Technology.
  • Advisory roles in behaviour change related to cybersecurity in financial institutions.
  • Cyber security awareness of migrant and CALD communities. This research aims to understand migrant communities (particularly those coming from developing countries and as refugees) cyber security awareness taking into account their cultural background, language and situational context.

The team is extending research in cybersecurity as a multidisciplinary field of study focusing on the evolution of nations from political, cultural, geographic, and socio-economic perspectives.

These are key areas of concern due to the deep structural changes in economy and society resulting from the implementation of technologies, processes and practices that are driving increased risk, harm or loss at personal and/or broader organisational levels.
