The project aims to establish cultural diplomacy between India, Australia, and the rest of the world by bringing traditional yogis to Melbourne with extensive training and knowledge.
The title of Indian Yogi is earned via intense penance, austerity, and devotion. The proposal makes a place that supports this cultural exchange and fosters interaction between the general public and the yogis in a busy setting like an airport. Yogis can help individuals calm down, shift their attitudes on life for the better, and learn about consciousness and self-realization using traditional yoga practices.

Section

The long sections through the building show the threshold, boarding area and central space- which is the space where cultural diplomacy takes place to unwind, reflect, find healing, and discover spirituality.

Section

The section demonstrates the centre of the building, where a play of light, biophilia, and proportion creates a calm area for meditation and spiritual activities to take place.

Axo Diagram

The diagram shows the central area of cultural exchange, where yogis from India meet the airport users and exchange knowledge on healing, meditation and spirituality. The central space is step seating with ramps and sisal flooring for the earthy texture and ambience.

The ground floor is an enclosed large meditation hall with immersive lighting. The lower floor also has individual rooms for yogis and users to meditate.
