Axonometric Site Plan

This purpose built one storey home located in Werribee was built in 1992. It is a five bedroom home for the fully accessible and carer who works around the clock.

Located in the residential district, there isn’t much activity nearby besides a primary school at the end of the road. The closest shopping district will be a 5 minute drive.

The proposal for this project was to recreate a home that follow all the guidelines towards the Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) and allowing the resident to feel comfortable in their own home.

'Reconfigure: Animation'

Being a paired unit with studies, I have created an animation showcasing the different design strategies that have been implemented into the plan.

Reconfigure: Before Plan

Looking at the plan of the house, there isn't much movement or connection with the house. The bedroom sizes are not consistent with one another, lounge being considerably large, music room is quite small and the bathroom located in the centre of the house seems to be out of place.

Reconfigure: After Plan

Through the reconfiguration, I have reduced the amount of bedrooms down to four with each having their own ensuite. To retain most rooms to where they originally are, my implementations were towards extending the back of the house as well as create a secondary entry for the residence. Creating a connection from the house to the front, I decided to move the music room from the existing and relocate it to “Lounge 2”. With this, it will allow the passerby's and residence’s of the house to communicate with one another or just sit with one another’s company.

Reconfigure: Dual Entry

The implementation of a dual entry, it was a way a separate the entry of the residence’s with the public. Removing the fence and rearranging windows and doors around, it created a private entryway into the house.

From it’s current state, door is located in the small corner which may make it difficult for the fully accessible to turn on a sharp edge. Switching places with the music room’s windows, it creates a wider entry and can implement a ramp for accessibility.

Reconfigure: Construction Sequence

This construction sequence is a follow up for the implementation of the dual entry.
