As a female who deals with anxiety when riding by myself in an Uber, I reached out to alot of my friends who also shared the same fear. We all felt paranoid in Rideshares, as if the
driver were not to be trusted and we’d end up being kidnapped. This is what lead me to wanting to explore this topic as if I haven’t of asked my friends I wouldn’t have known others also shared their anxiety and would have kept living feeling uncomfortable. I wanted to explore how people make themselves feel more comfortable in Rideshares, as well as bring light to this topic and make people aware that sexual assaults and kidnappings are common amongst Rideshares.

Saftey First

My primary outcome was an app which allows you to add your friends and share your active locations with them whilst in a Rideshare. Alot of people mentioned sharing their locations with a loved one made them feel more safe in a Rideshare. It also allows you to link your ride, informing your friend with details about your ride incase you were to get in trouble.

Saftey First App Promotion

This poster goes along side the Saftey First app and aims to invite people to download and promote the app.

The truth about what can happen in Rideshares

This is a flyer that brings attention to how unsafe Ridesharing can be and informs the reader of alternative ways they can help themselves feel more safe when riding by themselves.

Rideshare Saftey

This is a sticker that Saftey First produces which can be given to Rideshare drivers to show their support for the campaign.
