Rise is a project focused on the rethinking of the crutch to make life easier for those who rely on these devices. Through the addition of a secure folding mechanism and the re-examining of each element of a crutch, Rise provides an experience that minimises the shortcomings of conventional crutches by focusing on liveability, comfort and structure. This is achieved alongside a focus on repairability so that one device can indefinitely support one or see many others recover within one lifetime. Unlike the same crutch design that's been used since 1917, rise aims to provide an aesthetically pleasing form factor made to seamlessly blend temporarily or permanently into someone's life.

Rise - Mobility is a human need

Rise is a project meant to redefine the crutch to become a greater overall experience. This project arose from my own personal experience where I found the crutch to be a constant hindrance. As 350,000 Australians rely on these devices permanently I saw a need to redesign these devices for the better.

Within my exploration of this design, I found that improvement in multiple areas was needed to improve the overall design.

Function - A necessity should never get in your way

Rise manages to incorporate a feature packed experience while having all the functionality and support requirements of a conventional crutch so you can recover without compromise.

Assembly - Made to last your lifetime

Through a modular and repairable design, Rise is designed to either last a lifetime or see many through to complete recovery.

Features - Rethinking your needs

Rises primary value is to reduce the bulk and awkwardness associated with using crutches. Through a highly secure mechanism, Rise compacts effortlessly while maintaining full stability while in use.

Rise - Made to stand out

Beyond folding Rises features all aim to help the user, as mobility shouldn't be a compromise.
