Now

Mycelium island started out as separate pieces, transported by boat around Henderson Island. Some marine creatures are beginning to use the mycelium island as their resting place.

After 5 years

The Mycelium Islands increased over time and gradually joined together. The colours are also getting darker. The seabirds brought some seeds as they passed, and the mycelium island began to grow some mushrooms and plants.

After 10 years

The mycelium island eventually became an archipelago, covered in large areas of vegetation, and turned into a whole new ecoregion. More and more creatures live here, and plant species are more abundant.

The Overall Design-Now

This image from the top shows the entire view of the mycelium archipelago when they were just thrown into the vicinity of Henderson Island. It can be clearly seen that the colour of the mycelium is still white at the beginning.

The Overall Design-After 10 years

This image from the top shows how the mycelium archipelago has changed over a decade. Vegetation gradually covers the entire Mycelium island, where some of the creatures around Henderson Island live.

Elevation drawings

Over time, separate small islands of mycelium will grow together, eventually becoming several large islands of mycelium. There is less microplastic debris in seawater, and more marine life lives here.
