Kenny Kouch

My practice crosses the boundaries of architecture, interior, and urban design. I explore human and animal inhabitation and experiences of space through conceptual approaches and spatial conventions to create atmospheres and address notions of social issues and sustainability.

Within my final year project, I speculate about the future when arable land and freshwater for agricultural use are depleted. ‘Cornucopia’ is an advanced farming facility that revives non-arable soil with human faeces to promote the growth of companion plantations.

Cornucopia

In the future, increased temperatures and a lack of arable land will force humans to think of alternative ways of growing food. Cornucopia is the revelation of farming where the soil is fertilised with human waste and companion plantations are implemented simultaneously.

Drone View

There will not be any interactions between the crops and humans. As such, the farm will be operated by drones. The drones will replace all human-related agricultural activities within the tower.

Eye Level View

After the crops are collected and dropped into a container, they will be sold off to people in a market beneath the tower.

Bird Eye View

he farm utilises farm trays to contain all the plantations within the tower. Furthermore, the plants are being hydrated by the metal pipe structure wrapping around the tower.

Aquifer

Aquifer is an installation that aims to transform a room into the ocean’s environment. It focuses on the temporal aspects of space, ideas of atmospheres and the connection to experiences of change and transformation.

Aquifer (View of Components)

By using simple materials found at home, a simple component was made to refract sunlight into the room, emulating light rays in the ocean.
