Tia Markou

Welcoming you down her rabbit hole with ‘In the End, it’s Always Funny’,
The artist aims to reflect on the use of art as a coping mechanism. Engaging with a playful, haphazard, and stylised aesthetic, she transforms the space into a microcosm of her brightly coloured and overwhelming, state of being.
The foremost drive for creating this show was sparked by the need to rediscover joy, and catharsis within the artist's practice. Achieving this through dry humour, self- depreciation, and childlike abandon. Visually acknowledging an outlet of pent-up stress and anxiety through neo-expressionist, illustrative aesthetics, nonsensical text, and bright tactile finishes.
