The Courtyard Connection' is a medium density housing project, located in North Melbourne. The key driver for the project was green space and courtyards. The Central courtyard through the centre of the site serves as the heart of the project. It is intended to foster community connection, bolster a sense of belonging and togetherness for residents. The project offers a range of housing typologies and is inspired by several precedent projects locally, incorporating a range of successful architectural elements. With courtyard spaces varying from private, semi private and public, it is designed to provide residents with multiple ways to utilise green space.

The view from the street was an important consideration for the project. The inclusion of large mature trees aims to soften the street-scape, as well as landscaping all along the fence line is intended to give back to the street. The project includes native Australian trees, to provide a connection to country and give back to North Melbourne.

The Courtyard Connection” is a community focused architectural project that prioritizes human connection. Designed to offer residents a vibrant and welcoming space where they can build relationships and a strong sense of community, with shared laundry spaces, co working areas, communal gardening opportunities and an overall open and inviting green space to allow residents to connect.
