Hi, my name is Shuyi. Although I have an interest in publication and branding, my passion lies in UX/UI design. Through the projects in this discipline, I had the opportunity to gain a better understanding of people and create digital solutions to improve the well-being of everyday individuals. Ultimately, I wish to raise awareness for real-world issues in a light-hearted manner.
In 2023, I completed my final semester through the Monash Study Abroad program as part of the Collaborative Design studio intensive in Italy. These are a selection of my UX/UI projects completed throughout my Communication Design degree.
FOTORO - A photo diary app
FOTORO is a speculative photo diary app with the goal of helping individuals preserve a gratifying life, despite the mundane and repetitiveness. The main features of the app encourage users to appreciate the small enjoyments in everyday life while critiquing our desire to constantly live through our phones.
FOTORO - App interface
The main feature of the app includes saving and capturing moments throughout the day easily and conveniently, in the form of audio recordings and photos. Users can write a corresponding caption or description to the content saved.
FOTORO - Anti-design interface
The app embraces anti-design. Once users reach the daily upload limit of photos and audio recordings, some apps will be inaccessible. To change the daily upload limit, users will have to navigate through purposefully, badly designed screens. Both of these key features create a sense of frustration within users, critiquing our addiction to screens. Overall, implying the best solution to enjoy the moment is to look up from the screen.
FOTORO - Project website
The website details the design process, as well as the purpose of the app. It also highlights the main features of the app and contains a prototype link.
FundthePlanet - UX Case Study
A case study for the development of an app to help combat climate change. The final outcome is an all-in-one app that allows busy individuals to donate on the go wherever and whenever.
FundthePlanet - App interface
The app combines the layout of social media platforms and the act of donating. In this manner, users can access a broad range of information without wasting time on extensive research. The main goal of this app is to aid busy individuals live more sustainably, in the most convenient manner.
