Hello, my name is Anita Thuon. I am a communication designer with a keen interest in UX/UI and graphic illustrations. I also enjoy exploring areas such as motion, branding and web development. During my studies in Design and Information Technology, I developed a curiosity and understanding of how design and technology can work together. I believe that these areas of study contribute to learning in a creative, innovative and resourceful way. I’m always searching for innovative ways to use design to educate and solve problems.

'WHERE IS MY DATA? Microsite'

I have created a satirical campaign called WHERE IS MY DATA? that addresses the issue of data privacy in AI systems. With increasing concerns about the impacts of AI on the world, my campaign aims to highlight the paranoia surrounding personal data and extreme beliefs about data privacy.

WHERE IS MY DATA? microsite is an informative site that talks about this research whilst also making it playful with random pop-ups, comical security questions related to the topic. Users can also contribute to the research by giving an insight of what they're concerns are and while they're there, they can buy a card game as well.

WHERE IS MY DATA? Animated Poster

An animated poster that highlights the security of data privacy in a playfully designed poster. The concept of 'missing data' as if it's a lost pet hopes to draw in the attention of people to further explore what actually happens to their data when it's in the hands of an AI system.

WHERE IS MY DATA Card Game

A matching card game where you have to match an AI system to their "roles". The roles are based off of actual suspicions people have on certain AI systems. An example is voice assistance such as Alexa or Siri taking samples of our voices to use or sell. I wanted to showcase how some of these speculations are quite exaggerated almost making it humorous and playful.

Design Research Kit

The design research kit was designed to help me explore my concept of data privacy. The kit consisted of a small flipbook asking participants to provide me some personal information. I wanted to see if they are willing to give me their information as easily as they are able to when they sign up for social media platforms and other subscriptions. It also consisted of a booklet asking what kind of concerns they had for the data online as well as a 'Fill in the Blanks' Terms of Services from TikTok.
