Hey, I’m Julian, a designer from Singapore, based in Melbourne.

I’m wildly passionate about all forms of art and design - from classical literature to contemporary cinema, and everything in-between. The articulation of expression - and what we can learn about others from the things they create is something central to my practice. I have a preference for design that’s transparent in intent, but with an implicit depth for its recipients to discover.

Like me, my design approach is eclectic and multidisciplinary - aiming to combine wide bodies of inspiration into single holistic outcomes.

Melbourne Cinémathèque Identity - 'Talking Heads'

Proposed visual identity for the Melbourne Cinémathèque's 2024 annual promotional material. Inspired by film subcultures and discourse, the 'Talking Heads' identity is eclectic and complex - alike the history of cinema.

The Strider

Tasked with creating a far-future speculative design comprised entirely out of carboard, The Strider - inspired by the joints of various creatures, depicts a potential future of transhumanism amidst climate crisis.

Invisible People

Inspired by the surreal detachment of noir and Lovecraft, 'Invisible People' is a small publication about Melbourne, albeit a side we rarely acknowledge - the creeping unease of societal disrepair, and the the inability for us to confront our own fears.
