Monash Art, Design and Architecture Graduate Exhibition 2023

My name is Maddison Baroutas and I have a passion for communication design. I'm drawn to finding ways to create designs that can easily communicate an idea to any audience and to learn about subtle ways in how certain design decisions can lead someone to think differently and the impact a design can have when created with intention. While I was at Monash University, I found a love in branding and packaging design. The problem-solving aspect of packaging design is what drew me to this speciality. Branding design allows me to express a brand’s values and service visually, executing a cohesive identity that is recognisable to the masses which I find fascinating in trying to communicate.

The Everyday Run

The Everyday Run is a campaign that encourages the every day person to be active at least for 15 minutes a day, as it is researched that this little bit of time is all it takes to receive the mental benefits of physical activity. This campaign involves a run that will be held in the Royal Botanical Gardens, a RunKit to those who participate and an online and physical presence

Cove Bikini

Cove Bikini is a brand that creates bikinis designed to support women in all swim conditions. This project showcases the packaging in which the bikinis would be delivered to or purchased by the user. The purpose of this packaging is to convey the serenity of the brand and the fun/humour that is shared when someone experiences wearing a bikini.

Launch Housing

I have redesigned the identity for the non for-profit organisation Launch Housing who help the homeless in Melbourne’s inner city and CBD. This redesign is aimed to revitalise their identity and develop a campaign extension to promote safety to women who suffer from homelessness.

2023 Road Safety Conference

This project focuses on communicating the scientific article, The impact of Acute alcohol intoxication, visually for the 2023 road safety conference. I have produced an infographic poster, a social media title and screen display to be utilised at the conference.

Sunshine Drops

Sunshine drops is the name of a lozenges brand. This project offers a new packaging design for lozenges. This involves the lozenges sitting in a box, reducing the amount of area in which they hold on the store shelfs and in peoples homes. I have also designed the Lozenges to sit in a blister pack like structure that will be made out of a paper like pulp so all the packaging is fully recyclable. Lozenges falls under the Zero Waste Experience (Cosmetic and Wellbeing) category of the Better with Less Challenge. The initial flaw with the lozenges packaging is the inability to reseal the packaging once it has been ripped open aswell as the wrapping that surrounds the

2024 Melbourne Cinematheque

This project is designed for the 2024 Melbourne Cinematheque that aims to communicate the screening times of the films and to promote the event. The images are extruding out of the wavey lines, imitating the technique of projecting a film on to the screen. The wavey lines represent the amount of different film types and genres that are possible and exist. In having these lines, it allows for a graphic representation of different films and the image projections relate to one of the lines, showing the film genre possibilities Cinematheque has.
