With the increasing diversity of transportation modes, Melbourne Bus seems to be losing its popularity among young urbanites. Opti-BusRide aimed at optimising the design of bus system to attract more riders. According to the current bus transit system, there are many travel moments needs reconsideration. OBR improves the anxiety of traveling with a new app that provides more accurate directions, detailed Bus information, alighting reminder system, and convenient payment system, to achieve a more enjoyable trip. Connects the app, the bus, and the station system, uses LED light and multitude displays to let riders to visually identify the correct bus and stop, reduce mistakes while traveling.

Day Travel

Bus side LEDs flash a different color than the LEDs on the bus shelter, meaning that it is not the right bus and it will not stop. According to the development of real life advertising, ads posters will be continuously displayed or plastered on bus and station locations, while the rest of the displays will be used to show bus information such as real-time bus location and bus routes.

The more visible bus number info on the side of the bus and information about the next stop, makes it easier for passengers at the station or approaching the station to access the information. The 'M' shaped LED lights on the side of the bus will also echo with the shelter's LED light and the app system.

OBR App Application

The 'H-Travel' app is interconnected with the bus and shelter systems and will help passengers with a series of hints and commands that will help them solve any confusion during their bus journey. The main features include route planning, bus arrival instructions, get on or get off instructions and most importantly 'stop' reminders.

Bus Shelter Concept

Considering about energy issues, the station's electrical system will be recharged through a solar panel. Larger and more concise bus real-time information displays will help passengers to access information quickly. More seats are designed at the shelter to provide more resting areas for waiting passengers, while soft seats are designed to provide a more comfortable experience for passengers who have to wait for a long time.

Stop Alarming System In Use

Passengers can take their own time during the bus journey, and when passengers reached one stop before their destination, H-Travel will let them know it is the time to press the stop button with phone shaking alarm alert. Easy access to the button, avoids the risk of miss the right station.

Bus Interior

The window portion of the bus interior will consist of displays and will show different information than the exterior of the bus. The screen function design is a future technology which needs development. These Information screens will offer assistance to passengers by automatically switching the info about bus real-time location, pictures of nearby attractions, and real-life landmarks.
