Hexagrow

Looking from afar, Hexagrow towers into the sky. Revolutionary farming existing in a small compact space, accessible for all. The metal structure, making use of moss and its air filtration abilities, and the microbial mycelium, looks far from the traditional agricultural techniques and embodies a new, modern form, allowing plants to be cultivated in a healthy, clean environment.

Inner Workings of Hexagrow

These hexagonal pods grow, lettuce, herbs, cucumbers, tomatoes, kale and spinach in a circular way. These plants are grown through. Layer of mycelium embedded in saw dust and into a thick vat of artificially made nutrient gel, replacing the toxic contaminated soil of the past. UV lights are used to ensure that the plants receive the appropriate amount of light, due to the inconsistencies of the sun rays outside.

Accessibility

When crops are ready to be harvested, individuals are able to place their orders from the small vending machine to the right of the structure. People can select which crops, and in what quantity they require. Entirely customisable and unique to each person, Hexagrow provides a simple and trustworthy place to collect vegetables for your next meal.

Harvestation

Once an individual has placed an order, the fully grown crops are pushed from inside the pods to outside, where robotic arms can collect and harvest each plant. From here, the robot will then place these crops into a basket on a vertical conveyor belt attached to the vending machine, ready to be collected by the individual.

To Tie It All Together

In order for these crops to be fully stable and healthy at all times, artificially intelligent Farmer Bee drones are the head beekeepers of Hexagrow. The layer mycelium embedded in saw dust is used to communicate the health and strength of the plants to the control centre, located at the bottom of the structure. The Farmer Bees are then able to supply any plant medicine that is required and conduct any other necessary checks.
