Hi,I’m Keng (Ken) Zhan, a full stack developer and UI/UX designer
With a solid IT background and a passion for design, I've carved a niche for myself in the dynamic world of web development and UI/UX design. My journey in Melbourne has blessed me with invaluable local work experience, allowing me to understand and adapt to diverse work cultures seamlessly. I take pride in my ability to think creatively and learn continuously.

User Research: Slowly App

In our usability study on the Slowly app, we used face-to-face 'think aloud' testing with six participants to pinpoint usability issues. We found problems with unclear buttons, navigation, and notifications. Our data suggested improvements in UI, function layout, and alerts. From this, we proposed five design changes to enhance the app's slow socializing experience, aiming for a more intuitive use. We assessed UI, navigation, and notifications, using SUS, matrices, and surveys for both qualitative and quantitative feedback.

LeafDappled

Our design is a unique lamp that casts tree shadow patterns to bring a tranquil ambiance to indoor areas, controlled via gestures and an app. Inspired by the universal calm tree shadows evoke, our aim is to infuse indoor spaces with the serenity of natural light patterns, enhancing mood and creating a peaceful environment.

Walk Together - UI design

The design seeks to enhance the relationship between individuals by integrating physical activity and social interaction. By participating in walking or running together online, people can accompany and support each other. The whole redesign is based on the walk together app design I designed myself before, and the purpose of further optimizing the design is to boost emotional satisfaction by utilizing a minimalist design and Brutalist design approach to evoke feelings of relaxation in users.

AR Stress-relief Mystery Boxes

Our project offers an innovative stress-relief solution by seamlessly blending the physical and digital realms. Users access an immersive AR interface by scanning QR codes found on diverse platforms, from webpages to physical objects and locations. Within this AR space, they're greeted with intriguing mystery boxes, each promising a unique relaxation experience.
