Brayden Dopper is an emerging Maltese Australian artist and arts educator living and working in Wurundjeri Country, southeast Victoria. Interested in how we charge objects with memories and emotions, his multidisciplinary practice operates primarily through a sculptural language, abstracting relationships between material, form, and bodies to prompt introspection.

'Contact Series' explores physical play in evoking relational memories through a psychoanalytical framework, while 'rough, abstractions' reflects affectively on disparities in security and comfort, speaking to homelessness in urban public spaces.

My Contact Series installation stages three denim objects within a foam-tiled space, each formally suggesting different relations to the body, materially cohesive by repurposing my dad’s old, lived-in jeans. Each object invites and subverts interaction in different ways, with forms reminiscent of punching bags, footballs, and bolsters, making aware the audience of their bodies as activating the work.
