Monash Art, Design and Architecture Graduate Exhibition 2024

As an architecture student with a passion for visual arts, I strive to merge the artistic with the structural in my projects, creating spaces that resonate with beauty and functionality. As a performing arts venue located in Lorne, this project aims to reconnect humans and the sea, showcasing the beauty of corals alongside the devastating effects of coral bleaching.

Exterior View

The facade draws inspiration from sea corals to create spaces that evoke fluidity and vibrant colors. This reimagined performance venue goes beyond hosting events; it passively educates, provokes, and inspires users to reflect on humanity's impact on the natural world.

Auditorium

The existing auditorium which holds historical significance to Lorne, is retained as a formal performance space.

Speculative Collage

This collage explores the entangled relationship between humans and the sea in a "new reality where humans, non-humans, things, and materials co-exist in complex relations of life and non-life.”

Ground Floor Plan

The ground floor plan illustrates the relationship between the linearity of the existing building and the fluidity of the proposed facade.

Section

The section demonstrates different uses of the facade - as shading, seating and wall dividers.

Elevation

The elevation shows how the facade wraps itself around the existing building, similar to how a coral attaches itself to submerged rocks.
