Monash Art, Design and Architecture Graduate Exhibition 2024

This is Tiffany Yau, a third-year architecture student passionate about creating sustainable and inclusive public spaces. My work explores the balance between human needs, culture, and environmental responsibility. Through my designs, I aim to inspire a collective shift towards more environmentally conscious living and foster stronger, more connected communities.

AMPHIVILION

An amphivilion with greenery featuring native plants, interactive educational displays about Indigenous culture, and sustainable practices. It is s a welcoming, inclusive, and culturally enriching space, reflecting Indigenous values of connection to nature, community, and sustainability.

ELEVATION DRAWING OF THE PROJECT

The elevation shows that the project just sits next to the Flinders Street Station and one can easily view it when approaching from the north-east. If you look closely you can see some feature elements like these spiral ramps and large windows which introduce a lot of natural light into the space, and ties in nicely with the overall aesthetic of the design plans.

PLAN DRAWING SET

This set of plan drawings showcases the site plan along with all floor plans, highlighted in the project's signature pink branding.

RENDERING WITH ADJACENT PROJECT

I have rendered a view of the amphivilion with the nearby project by Karina. This contrast draws quite an obvious distinction between the round, solid image of my design and the angular, triangular shape of Karina's pavilion. This also shows how these two different architectures intersect, establishing an interesting and inviting public area in Federation Square.

1:50 SECTIONAL MODEL

I have chosen a 1:50 scale to emphasise the complex relationship between the amphitheater and the spiral ramp. To add context, I have used an acrylic board to draw the section drawing part that give a richer analysis of various architectural features and of the facade.
