Fishermans Bend is not only an industrial site that provides essential services and products to Melbourne City, but also being culturally and historically significant as some industrial heritages are located within the area. To preserve those industrial valuables and welcome new emerging industries, this project aims to create a more inclusive industrial site in Fishermans Bend, in which Industrial Building Preservation is a vital theme.

Industrial Buildings Preservation - Implementation Timeline of Adaptive Reuse

To preserve the industrial heritage (Vegemite factory) and revitalise land spaces within the area, this project proposes an adaptive reuse implementation timeline for adopting strategies gradually. Each stage will have distinctive implementations to create a more inclusive, attractive and sustainable Fishermans Bend for traditional (e.g. manufacturing) and emerging (e.g. high-tech and innovative) industries.

Current issues & opportunities for Vegemite factory, Fishermans Bend

Current issues and opportunities of the Vegemite factory work as push and pull factors for creating a more inclusive industrial site in Fishermans Bend. The proposed interventions aim to bring inclusivity of the industrial culture between traditional and emerging industries.

Proposed intervention for Inner spaces of industrial heritage, Vegemite factory

While preserving the existing structure of the industrial heritages of the Vegemite factory in Fishermans Bend, adaptively reusing the inner spaces is also crucial to utilise land space efficiently and provide affordable spaces for different scales of businesses.
