Quarrying activities have been vital to Australia's economic growth but left behind around 50,000 abandoned sites. Like in Ravenhall, many quarries are repurposed as landfills, causing pollution. However, it has the potential to benefit the local community by rehabilitating the contaminated environment and generating economic value if thoroughly planned. Therefore, Ravenhall Quarry will be repurposed to support the growing population of Melton, Brimbank, and Wyndham, accommodating new community facilities, generating clean energy through waste solutions, and restoring the ecological conditions of Skeleton Creek and the Western Grasslands to create new habitats for native biodiversity.
