Monash Art, Design and Architecture Graduate Exhibition 2024

I feel as though every design journey is a turbulent one, I started my university journey studying a sports science degree and quickly came to realise that there was too much science in a science degree. I have always had a creative finger but was deterred by the idea of being a struggling artist. I started my design journey at Monash in the year 2021, I have had some moments of realisation that design is not just drawing funky illustrations but rather an extremely wide birth of type, composition, animation and more.

Strangers- CDS2204 Illustration as Design

This was one of my favourite designs that came out of my degree, I felt as though it helped me develop a somewhat style of design that I wanted to continue through with. The brief was to create a pattern that could be applied to different things such as tote bags, books etc, but after having completed it I felt it worked best as just the design itself.

Germs- CDS3001 Communication Design Studio 4

This was a page taken out of a educational colouring book that I created to instruct children how to prevent the spread of germs. Whilst some areas of this project lacked, others I felt stood out, such as the illustration. It was the first time I played around with textures, I wanted to have a rough newspaper like look.

Product Planet- CDS3002 Communication Design Studio 5

A poster done as a supporting outcome for a project that addresses social issues, I chose to do animal extinction. I created an educational platform where individuals or businesses can educate themselves on the dangers of extinction, the platform focusses on pairing suitable charites that support the endangered species list with large companies.

Pasta Pasta Pasta- CDS1302 Typography

A cover for a pasta cook book done for my typography unit. Typography was an area of mine that needed some attention so I decided to take it up for my last elective. As much as I learnt about the way type works the most succesful part of this project was how my illustration came out for the cover. It adapted a similar style that the strangers pattern did, 2D shapes with a cohesive colour pallete.

Stitt Unseen- CDS3002 Communication Design Studio 5

The brief was to create an exhibition around a chosen artist/designer. I chose Alex Stitt, the guy that did Slip Slap Slop, I decided to dig deeper than what he is best known for and rather focussed on a body of work that was unseen to the public. I created exhibition invites that were in the stucture of a chatterbox, it played on the idea of revealing something to find what was within, it challanged me but it was a rewarding result.

Thera Dogs- CDS3002 Communication Design Studio 5

A brochure done for the rebranding of a non for profit organisation called Delta Therpay Dogs. I created a brochure as it provides a concise overview of the services, mission, and the benefits of therapy dogs. The previous brand did not have one so I thought that designing it to appeal to the eye through bright colours and shapes would stand out next to other brochures in a stand.
