I am an industrial designer passionate about developing innovative solutions and products. I enjoy exploring the full design process, from initial ideation to final output, and I am dedicated to realising my intended vision. The ability to see my thoughts and ideas transformed into both virtual and physical models fuels my motivation throughout this journey. I thrive in the hands-on making process, greatly enhanced by my personal experience with 3D printing. I love delving into new applications for this technology and its potential outputs.

This is HAVI. A manually controlled household robotic arm, designed for elderly individuals. It promotes independence and aims to reduce the risk of falls by enabling users to easily access hard-to-reach shelves and cupboards. This device facilitates the retrieval and storage of items without requiring overextension or risking loss of balance.

Havi, from the Sanskrit word ‘Havin’ meaning ‘to seek assistance’ or ‘to devote,’ reflects the device’s core purpose: to enhance users’ lives and embody a deep commitment to their well-being.

This exploded view displays some of the over 250 parts that come together to produce HAVI. This includes over 100 screws, 70 heated inserts, 9 bearings and 5 servo motors

The system includes the robotic arm which mimics the movement of the smaller controller arm. Both parts sit on a counter or bench in order to access out of reach cupboards or shelves. The user can control the device with one hand. Using their thumb to press the button, which activates the claw opening or closing function.

This is a revised prototype of the design. Further development was required both functionally and aesthetically to reach the end result.

This photo displays the process of assembling the final model. Which involved screwing, gluing and press fitting all of the parts together and wiring up the motors and controllers to the circuit board.
