I am in my final year of a Bachelor of Design and Bachelor of IT, combining technology with thoughtful design to create modern, accessible solutions. My sensor-equipped attachable for a white cane exemplifies sustainable, affordable mobility for visually impaired users. With experience in UI/UX, product, and game design, I prioritise functional, inclusive, and resilient solutions. Internships in UI/UX, industrial design, and IT with Bosch have enriched my approach. Looking ahead, I’m eager to continue learning and tackling new challenges, integrating design and technology to make impactful contributions.

Cane Mate is an attachable smart band that transforms a traditional cane into a modern, affordable mobility aid. It incorporates a smartphone for obstacle detection, using the phone’s camera to interpret surroundings and convey feedback to the user.

This gives visually impaired users the option to play with the app, whereas blind users can use full audio navigation.

How It Fixes
Band is made of TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) which has a rubber-like texture for comfort. The shape concaves to signify a grip. It is firm and long-lasting as it does not degrade easily to environmental exposure.
Band seamlessly slides over the top of the cane due to the TPU’s flexibility, causing no set up problems!
