I am passionate about creating transformative environments that blend seamlessly with their surroundings. I draw inspiration from organic, integrated structures, where design harmonises with nature rather than competing with it. This informs my approach to spatial design, where I explore how spaces can evolve and adapt to meet changing needs. My work innovates by redefining dynamic spaces through the intersection of design disciplines,as I believe that true creativity emerges from the fusion of ideas. This project explores a spatial design intervention addressing nutritional deficiencies through a wearable device, in a speculative future limited to frozen junk food.

Best in Studio: Junk

A Frozen Future

In this speculative future, Frozen Junk Food has become 95% of the world’s consumed and produced food source. A fast-paced life demanding quick, cheap meals has led to a world that barely recognizes fresh produce. These easy options, while convenient, come with hidden costs. Vitamin C, essential for immune health, vanishes rapidly due to processing methods like air-packing and freezing. We unknowingly trade well-being for convenience, inviting chronic illnesses like hypertension and heart disease. Our once-resilient bodies struggle against nutrient depletion, confronting the stark reality of our choices in a world shaped by ease over health.

VC Armor : A Wearable Solution

This Apparatus Includes functions that aid the human body to gain vitamin C and survive in the future dystopian world where energy is minimum but the fast-paced life in search for efficiency and excellence still holds the most value, even over human health. Although it supports the human body, the device is a form of punishment as it is uncomfortable to wear and is a sign on your body that announces you are unhealthy to the world. Will this wearable device be punishment enough to get people to prioritize health or will it enable them to continue in their ways?

C-Revive Retreat

A space where everyone ultimately has to go, in order to survive. With 3 separate smaller spaces, each which dictates the next step, in this spatial journey of recovering.

Space 1: VC Detector
Space 2: VC Armor
Space 3: C-Spa

Space 1: VC Detector

Upon entering the C-Revive Retreat, the VC detector scans your body, analyzing nutrients, vitamins, and other health metrics. If you’re low in Vitamin C, it directs you to the VC Armor for replenishment; if your levels are healthy, it guides you to the C-Spa for maintenance. After the scan, a path lights up beneath your steps, with the light’s intensity increasing as you near either destination, symbolizing the beginning of your recovery. This experience is designed to encourage well-being, subtly guiding each individual toward the next step in their rejuvenation based on their body’s specific needs.

Space 2: VC Armor

Guided by the illuminated path, to the heart of the retreat, where the VC-Armor hangs, suspended from wires connected to solar panels on the roof for constant charging. This space is intentionally smaller than the expansive C-Spa, reinforcing the idea that wearing the armor is a consequence of consuming too much frozen junk food. As you wear the armor, microneedles press into your skin, and you’re held in a rigid, upright position. This discomforting experience, both empowering and punitive, symbolises the balance between survival and discipline, as the armor supplies essential energy while reminding you of the cost of convenience.

Space 3: C-Spa

This space is a sauna, where the steam contains vitamin C. It is generated by the VC-Sprayers that are also connected to the solar panels in the middle to gain energy. The spa serves as a reward for maintaining a healthy diet, offering a revitalising boost as your skin absorbs the nutrient-rich steam. Designed for relaxation and comfort, this experience provides an extra surge of energy, promoting well-being and soothing the senses in a serene, restorative environment.
