As a Spatial Designer, I focus on creating environments that blend functionality with emotional depth. My work explores themes of memory, play, and rebuilding, with a focus on inclusivity and accessibility. In my project Echoes of Play-Rebuilding Gaza, I reimagine future play spaces in conflict zones like Gaza, balancing resilience with the remnants of history. I’m drawn to aesthetics that embrace imperfection while fostering interaction and reflection, aiming to design spaces that honor the past while imagining new futures.

Rising from the Ruins

An aerial view of the mosque site, surrounded by war-torn buildings. The mosque itself, with its red dome and arches, stands out as a symbol of hope and renewal. The design integrates both historical preservation and modern interventions, offering the community a space to heal and rebuild. The red structure rises boldly, representing resilience amidst the devastation.

The Gateway of Hope

A street-level view of the mosque’s exterior. The original arches have been preserved, and a bold red structural intervention rises from the building, representing resilience and renewal. Children playing in the foreground emphasize the building’s role as a place for the community to reconnect, play, and heal. The red tower is a beacon of hope and a modern touch in an otherwise historically preserved environment.

Spaces of Interaction

This sectional view reveals the layered design of the building, showcasing the different levels where various activities take place. The red dome and tower provide a striking vertical focal point, while ramps and open spaces allow for free movement across the building. It is a space designed for play, interaction, and remembrance, bringing people together in a shared journey through the structure.

Mirror and Memory

This interior space utilizes mirrors and LED technology to connect the past and present. The mirrors reflect the current surroundings, while the LED screens project images of the past, allowing users to engage with the historical context. The juxtaposition of modern technology and traditional architecture creates a powerful space of memory and interaction, where the community can reflect on what was and what could be.

The Playful Garden

A view of the Central Garden, where light, open space, and greenery come together to create a peaceful yet playful environment. Children interact in the sunken play area, while adults move through the open stairways and walkways. The Garden is designed to encourage movement and exploration, symbolizing both growth and connection within the community.

A Walk Through Reconstructed Play

This video provides a first-person perspective tour of my design project, showcasing the entire building and its surrounding context. The video begins by taking you through the interior spaces, highlighting the preserved arches and modern interventions that create spaces for play, reflection, and community interaction. As you move through the building, you’ll experience the open courtyards, memorial spaces, and the vibrant red structure that symbolizes hope and renewal. The video concludes with an aerial view, placing the mosque within the war-torn urban landscape, illustrating how the design blends history and modernity to serve as a symbol of resilience and community rebuilding.
