Monash Art, Design and Architecture Graduate Exhibition 2024

As a contemporary storyteller through fine art, born in Malaysia and living in Naarm, I embrace the feminine side, seeking to illuminate forgotten narratives and redefine traditional perspectives. Using a childlike lens, I delve into the myriad layers of normality and absurdity, existence and oblivion, and the physical and spiritual realms, including folktales and fairy tales. I select mediums that best narrate these stories through the materiality of painting, recycled materials, sculpture, photography, film, animation, curation and fashion, inviting viewers to ponder the essence of being human in waking and in dreams.

Chap Fan / 杂饭 / Mixed Rice.

Chap Fan / 杂饭 / Mixed Rice.
"Chap Fan" presents a vibrant tapestry of childhood nostalgia, where toys serve as the ingredients of memory. Like a plate of mixed rice, each piece blends colours, shapes, and stories, reflecting the joy of play and the warmth of shared experiences. This installation celebrates interconnectedness, transforming simple treasures into heartfelt reminders of the beauty found in diverse identities and collective journeys, inviting viewers to engage with their own stories through the lens of Malaysian culture.

ABC Ice - Reconstructed garments

Medium: Reconstructed garments (men's shirts, fabric, children’s toys, metal poles)

Inspired by Malaysia’s ABC Ice, this collection blends masculinity and femininity through reimagined men’s shirts, softened by playful touches of childhood toys. Bound together with reclaimed metal poles, each piece challenges traditional roles and celebrates creativity and resilience. Like ABC Ice, a mixture of contrasting ingredients, these garments embrace an independent spirit that balances strength and sensitivity, capturing a fusion of identity beyond the expected.
