Monash Art, Design and Architecture Graduate Exhibition 2024

In my work I communicate the struggles of identity, individuality and immigration. I primarily work in photography and film, and have recently begun using sculpture and mixed media, particularly using ephemera and symbolic motifs. My work is symbolic and introspective – an eternal mirror turned inwards on myself – to explore my experience of obligation, belonging and tradition. I draw inspiration from culture, family, and experiences to capture moments and themes in my life. I employ my practice as a tool to further my understanding of the world and my place within it. I believe that my stories are not alone, and hope my work inspires like minds and evokes awe.

The Anatomy of a Life

Made of ephemera and all things lost and found, The Anatomy of a Life explores the paths and possibilities of a life. The installation features repetitive clay figurines in each strand, which represent inevitable growth and stages, while elements in between signify variations of a chosen path. These motifs were collected from versions of life that could be materialised. Each strand is a way forward, a decision to make, an alternative personhood. To be human is to be a kaleidoscope – there is no one narrative, no singular story. Gold embellishes the space below, reminiscent of the threads of human fate in Greek mythology. Chaotic and reckless, they lead nowhere. This cup runneth over.
