In an atomic future, where the deserts of the world have been reduced to firing ranges for the Western superpowers’ nuclear arsenals, Woomera has become the epicentre of their weapons testing program. Global pollution and soil contamination levels have reached dire extremes due to the continuous testing and expansion of the Western atomic program. Centuries of atomic detonations, chemical leaching, and experimental weapon trials have rendered the soils sterile, the aquifers corrupted, and the atmosphere perpetually damaged.
Remnant Futures - Beyond The Biosphere.
In the year 2105, a specialist team of terraforming architects travelled back to ‘Ground 0’ and ventured beyond the walls of the restricted zone to the now desolate landscape in the hopes of remediating the contamination zone through artificial cultivation and the re-introduction of non-native and native biota.
Remnant Futures - Projected Sprawl.
Remnant Futures - Sectional Representation.
The sprawling network of spatial expansions, geodesic in their nature spawned from the dormant remnant outposts allowing for the gradual process of re-cultivation to begin. Over time, the organisms network expanded, its artificial ecologies creeping outward from the walls of the restricted zone.
Remnant Futures - Life Inside The Dome.
The hope is that this terraforming group of visionaries find a solution that is compatible with the violent extremities present at Ground 0 so they can take these learnings and attempt to replicate them throughout the other severely affected zones around the globe. Woomera is not yet beyond hope. In fact, it can be the catalyst for total planetary re-wilding.
