Hi, I’m Elise Duggan, a recent graphic design graduate. I’m particularly passionate about publication, packaging and branding design. Throughout my creative journey, I’ve loved incorporating my love of illustration to create unique visual assets.
Undiscovered Melbourne, is an event which aims to deconstruct harmful suburb stereotypes. Alongside the event, suburb attraction guides champion stigmatised suburbs by showcasing their current local events, communities and activities.
This project explores how design can challenge perception and drive social change. It reflects my desires of utilising intentional design which makes realistic change from a ground up approach.
Undiscovered Melbourne Attraction Brochures
The suburb attraction guides aim to destigmatise suburbs by showcasing their current local events, café, restaurant and bar culture and community activities.
Undiscovered Melbourne Event
Undiscovered Melbourne aims to bring Melbourne communities together by exploring the unique activities, local events and culture of stigmatised suburbs. The event invites tourists to the host suburb through a celebration of live music, food and local art.
The Design Research Kit allowed participants to reflect on their stereotypes surrounding Melbourne suburbs. Participants were asked to choose suburbs they would or wouldn’t want to live in and why, guess the identity of suburbs from ambiguous images and use stickers to match suburbs to a corresponding stereotype.

Road Safety Brand Guidelines and Prospectus
In collaboration with the NRSPP, my road safety campaign utilised bold colours, bitmaps and gradients to demand attention, rather than relying on gore and shock factor.
Melbourne Cinémathèque
My design of the Melbourne Cinémathèque calendar and digital screens aimed to capture mood of peculiarity through elements of decorative lace, flowers and root systems. I aimed to draw a connection between this emotion and the unique quality of the contemporary and classic cinema shown at ACMI.
In the spirit of reconciliation Monash University acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
