I am a communication designer, specialising in motion graphic design. Besides my speciality, I have an interest in illustration, publication, and animation. Rather than having a fixed design style, I like to incorporate various approaches in my practice, creating lively and engaging designs that fulfil their purpose. I aim to create impactful and beautiful designs to serve the community, especially young audiences, while continuing to learn and improve my design skills.
The Meal (Animation)
The Meal is a short comedy and my second ever animation. It starts with a person trying to cook a meal, but things take an unexpected turn. This frame-by-frame animation has a cartoonish style and high-contrast colour palette, with warm colours for energetic scenes. It was created using a digital drawing pad in Adobe Illustrator and Animate, following the principles of animation.
This motion graphic is based on a quote derived from An Experiment in Criticism (1961) by C.S. Lewis, which is about reading and has a reflective, poetic tone. I tried to capture this atmosphere using simple illustrations stylised by rough strokes and a cool colour palette. The visuals were based on my interpretation of the text’s ideas, which are a mix of literal and abstract. The final outcome conveys the calm tone and encourages self-reflection.
This publication was created based on Alice Rawsthorn’s Instagram post about a designer. The publication had to be visually engaging and balanced. However, the challenge was to create an original visual language matching the designer’s aesthetic, with limited use of external images. I chose Lucienne Day, well-known for her uniquely designed textile patterns. I designed my visuals inspired by Day’s works, thus, I created my own patterns and a fabric-like texture. I divided the excerpted text into paragraphs and set them in a modern, clean font, with a simple hierarchy.
This motion graphic aims to educate children about the marketing tactics used by supermarkets and food manufacturers to disguise unhealthy foods. It was designed for the Little Food Festival, a festival for children that is centred around the food system. I approached this project with a whimsical, childlike illustration style, paired with a vibrant colour palette. To further compel children, I captured the child characters as food detectives, who are happy and healthy.
This poster series is part of a social campaign to raise awareness about doom scrolling and reduce screen time, with teenagers and young adults as the main audience. The design follows a clean, modern approach and uses vibrant colours to compel passers-by to pay attention to the posters’ content. The audience is addressed with sarcastic messages reflecting on their scrolling habits in a self-talk monologue.
City Banner
This illustration-based banner is designed to promote the city of Riyadh. The design is minimalist, featuring a depiction of a landmark, using contrasting colours and modern typography. The building is Al Faisaliah Tower, a well-known architectural landmark and a synonym for the city.
