Hi, I’m Victor Mey, a spatial designer who is passionate about designing spaces for the people. Particularly I care most about how a space makes people feel but also as an environment to connect others together to create something where everyone is inclusive.

Overgrowth, my recent project is the exploration of how the world will look like in the very far future and something I worked collaboratively on in completing this project. My studio The Future of Play, I specifically focused on designing the ground, the space where it holds everything together but also I designed it in a way where I aim to connect to other aspects of the project but overall, I want to connect the people together.

Best Team Work: The Future of Play

With Bianca Chan and Jennifer Lok

Exploring Overgrowth

An overall illustrative render highlighting the overgrowth of the area around the residential buildings and other aspects of the building such as The Roof and The Middle.

Overgrowth at The Ground

The ground section of the Overgrowth area, including humans and the space around them. It shows how human can still adapt to the space around them even though it is not common and in relation to The Future of Play, the aspect of play is still relevant and present.

Components of the ground

An isometric of the ground alongside a building and some cutouts to show the effect of the overgrowth taking over building. Included is the open play areas as well as the trunks that connect to the building, ground, The Roof, and The Middle.

Section and Connection to The Middle

Using the components of The Ground such as the trunks, we can connect from the outside of the building to the inside of building where The Middle meshes are placed in a way where through the same level you can access both.

Section and Connection to The Roof

Using the trunks that have connected to the building, the vines from The Roof also connect to this. Some areas of the trunks attach to the building so you can access them in one area.

Ground Activity

The residential buildings have dedicated areas within the overgrowth at the ground. With this, you can still have that 'play' on the ground as opposed to being stuck at the levels of the building at all times.
