Influenced by cultures of repair and reuse, my approach embraces improvisation and speculation as both material and conceptual methods.
My sculptures behave like a broken system. Built from furniture, pipes, cords, fittings and off cuts, they are at once active and idle. This series is between the domestic and industrial, the functional and the absurd. They form a network of almost-machines where discarded materials have been reanimated into an elusive use.
In the spirit of reconciliation Monash University acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
