Working within the Melbourne CBD, this studio involves the development of a range of public projects that seek to generate politically autonomous or troubling “gaps” in the capitalist logic of the city.

Using the public and private, digital and physical, air-gapped and networked negotiations of the internet or cryptocurrency key ceremony as a starting point, the studio explores how architectural interventions might articulate different modes of embodiment and engagement within the urban environment. Ineffable Ceremonies draws on earlier anti-capitalist and countercultural ideas from the 1960s and 70s in order to make connections between architecture, ceremony, mysticism and the city.

Following the design of a small-scale device to facilitate key ceremonies, the studio has focused on the development of “weird” public spaces that attempt to moderate and disrupt connections to the networks of the city.
