This project aims to provide a simple architectural structure which can provide different possibilites that answer spatial situations. The underlying intention is that these structuyres are easy to construct, and encourage community to self build.

Improving the Oval Edge of Danenong Primary School - Outdoor learning space

The data collected from the co-design session with Dandenong Primary School indicated that the area around the oval is not as well utilised and developed as it could be. After carefully considering the space, it was found that several double-storey houses overlooked the area because they are located very close to the school’s boundary. This might be contributing to a sense that there is a lack of privacy in that area. To improve the utilization of the oval, this proposal aims to develop a better edge treatment of the oval in a way that can also be used for other functions, such as an outdoor learning environment and a shaded social space for the student community.

This simple base frame creates different possibilities to enhance the use of space, by using the same base frame structure, different spaces can be created, including enclosed spaces,
seating areas or tables. The amount of natural light in the space can also be controlled depending on which direction the structure is facing.
