The effects of climate change along the Great Ocean Road have resulted in the need to respond by drastically adapting the roads pathway. With the introduction of the new proposed bridge, the ground level of the existing road has the opportunity to be reimagined as a new landscape for people and ecosystems to interact with. ‘The Tidal Walk’ engages with a new experiential landscape that highlights the effects of climate change by immersing users into an ever-changing floodplain and ocean front condition. The project creates a destination for tourists and a meaningful recreational space for locals.
