What is the future of food? What will we eat? How will food be produced, transported and consumed? Will there be particular rituals around precious foodstuffs or events? Food and design intersect with complex political, social, and ecological issues, exacerbated by rapid population growth and climate crisis. In this studio students explored design as an agent for change to radically revise the ways we produce, distribute, and consume food. Working across a variety of scales—from the human body to industrial food systems—students speculated on the spatial implications of food production and consumption in the year 2045.
