In response to the Everyday Messaging brief, I chose to explore neon signage. Although neon can be commonly seen in local shops, the nostalgic emotions it evokes made me question the narrative and aesthetic that neon portrays. This led me into a deeper exploration into the impact of how an everyday messaging tool like neon signage impacts us; emotionally, visually and mentally.
I chose to play with lights using different chromatic stimuluses from the colour model to mimic the illumination of real neon lights on a two dimensional surface, in hopes of creating an immersive and nostalgic artwork.
