Hello, I’m Annmarie! I am a Monash Communication Design Graduate. Additionally, I will complete my Bachelor of Business (Marketing) in 2022. I am a multidisciplinary designer based in Melbourne. I have valuable experience across various mediums and design fields. My studio project is in response to my research surrounding Augmented Reality, CV Dazzle, and Facial Recognition Technology. I developed a Wearable Art brand named ‘Far Near’ that intends to reinvent the world of makeup. This project fuses beauty with art and aims to centre the idea of creativity. You will also find my Platform One publication and the Character Magazine that I created in my Typography Studio.

Far Near Packaging in Context

I found that a crucial part of my project was documenting the packaging in context. The idea behind the brand is that the products are to be used for self-expression. I took 35mm photographs of my friends wearing the Far Near products and holding the Far Near packaging. The campaign explores the potential and possibilities of the products themselves.

Far Near Packaging

For the most part, I spent time designing boxes for specific makeup products. The collection includes packaging for an eyeshadow palette, 4 single eyeshadows, a tinted face moisturiser in 2 shades, 2 weightless lipsticks, a blush, a bronzer, an eyebrow pencil, an eyeliner and a mascara.
The simplicity of the packaging is representative of the nature of the brand. Once the consumer purchases the product, it is their turn to create the art. The packaging symbolises a blank canvas inviting the customer to use the product as their own form of expression.

Far Near Website

To extend the project, I designed a website for the brand. It features a clean design which is east to navigate. Here, you can see a homepage in which the images change, a side bar with all of the extensions of the website, the about page, a page showing all of the single eyeshadows and a specific product page for the ‘Orange Red’ Single Eyeshadow. I used some of the photos that I took of my friends wearing the ‘Far Near’ products.

Far Near Product Cards

Finally I designed cards to be sent out with online orders. The cards encourage consumers to tag @farnear in their photos with their new products on social media or to send them through via direct message. This builds the Far Near community and allows people to share the art they’ve created with the products.

Character Magazine

Character Magazine is an independent publication that aims to support creatives all around the world. This new issue was made in a moment of endless lockdowns, loneliness and emotional stress. Character Magazine has a strong will to bring creatives together. Featuring graphic design, photography, illustration and fine arts, the aim of this publication is to give visibility to the artists of our online community and support their works and passions. This issue delves into the relationship between artists and social media.

Platform One Guide

Platform One is a local fashion market that provides a place to support and expose emerging Melbourne based labels. It showcases innovative and sustainable design. The purpose of my publication is to exhibit all of the designers that participated in the first Platform One market and further explore their practices and designs. The intended audience are the market-goers, as this is a publication they will receive on arrival with the purchase of their ticket. I have encapsulated the entire feel of the market by including interviews and special insights into specific designers and their latest collections.
