Hi! My name is Charlotte and I enjoy designing refined concepts for commercial use that are adaptable and that suit various applications. I am a recent graduate of Monash Design school, and am currently finishing my business degree, majoring in Marketing. I believe that combining these degrees will make for a well-rounded approach to my design projects, influenced by knowledge of what consumers want and need from my portfolio. My work in design aims to function as a fusion of calculated and well thought-out designs for use in marketing applications, as well as design contexts. Feel free to to visit my Instagram for some of my photography and work!

"Making Do"
For the studio Making Things Public, I wanted to take a documentary approach to the project, as I am very interested in photography and making visual journals with my images. Adapting this approach, I was also heavily intrigued by the way that people appropriate public spaces for their own personal use, defining such uses into two categories of Standard and Non-Standard. This concept, combined with an analysis of the ways that Covid-19 affected people’s use of public space, formed the basis for my project Making Do, which acted as a visual diary for various images that I collected over the past year.

Vision 2022 – "The Art of Essentialism"
For my other design studio – “Vision”, I focused on furniture and interior design duo Grant and Mary Featherston as the focal point for my State Library Museum identity. I was heavily inspired by 70's mod colour pallets. Warm, rich tones, which were quintessential of the time where the Featherstons work was the most prevalent – the mid 1970s. I also incorporated simple modular patterns into the design to reference the fashion and textiles of the time. The image displayed is an excerpt from the micro site of the State Library for the exhibition, showing a number of their works.

Identity - "Off Piste Sushi Restaurant"
One of my other designs was for the CDS3001 design studio – Identity. For this studio, the aim was to form an identity around the topic of food – whether that be a restaurant, specific type of food or any other interpretation, as long as it was informed by your family, culture or a specific memory. I created a sushi restaurant called “Off-Piste”, inspired by the memory of seeing my family skiing in Japan. Off-Piste is a sleek, high-end dining experience that encapsulates the refined pallet of Japanese cuisine. I created a menu, business cards and a range of posters that formed the identity.
