Hello, my name is Chen Yu. I am a recent Communication Design graduate of Monash University. I am interested in branding, motion design, illustration, and photography. My final studio project was Not for Nothin', which asked us to choose a not-for-profit organisation and redesign their identity, create a brand guidelines document and major piece of collateral for the organisation. I chose Australian Animal Rescue (AAR). My purpose was to help AAR by getting more people to pay attention to animals suffering from disaster. The final outcomes produced included an animated video, an A3 fundraising calendar, volunteer uniform design, and fundraising merchandise design.

Australian Animal Rescue, An 2D animated Video

Australian Animal Rescue is a not-for- profit organisation. The video is in 24fps format and is organized with about 2000 drawings, then edited and merged with Premiere Pro. This animated video clearly explains what AAR is, what they are doing now and how they need help. It is used to draw more social attention and to look forward to actively promoting the development of AAR.

Australian Animal Rescue, A3 Calendar 2022

The illustrations on the volunteer T-shirts, canvas bags, and A3 calendars are about AAR's rescue targets and the materials needed. The organization's information and QR code are incorporated into the illustrations to achieve better communication among the crowd. Anyone who scans the QR code will be taken to the video play page.

Melbourne Cinémathèque, Poster

The identity was created for Melbourne Cinémathèque. Use Bauhaus concept to integrate geometry and font together to design a new font. The contrast of orange and beige is more attractive to the viewers' eyes.

Vision 2022

The teaser film for Sidney Nolan's museum is inspired by his work a series of Kelly's helmet. Taking square as a theme, I designed a set of fonts echoing Nolan's design philosophy and I played the out-of-order 26 letters in a fast rhythm, thus concentrating the audience on the video.
