Welcome! My name is Chloe Holliday and I am a freelance animator and contemporary illustrator. My design is fun, colourful and focuses on combining different art mediums. Recently I have focused on how to use design for positive change in the public sphere, by exploring ways to incorporate colour vision deficient friendly designs. I am always up for a challenge look forward to further developing my skills in design and art in the years to come.

Colour Vision Deficiency

The See the Change sticker designs represent public transport maps. It begins with four different ‘true’ colours, which gradually merge into similar shades, making it more difficult for the public to distinguish and thereby follow the red line. The final sticker reflects how someone with protanopia CVD would visualise the four ‘true’ colours represented in the first sticker. This gives the public an insight into how people with CVD see colours and the associated challenges, specifically with regards to visualising colour coded maps and navigating public transport.

Colour Vision Deficiency

After seeing these stickers, the public are invited to learn more about CVD through the See the Change website, where they can educate themselves on alternative methods to create CVD friendly designs. This can be done through the incorporation of symbols or patterns in maps, and not just relying on colour.

White Flower Society Promotion

The White Flower Society are a nine piece band who create feel good dance rock music from Melbourne. They asked me to create a short promotional video that encapsulates the bands fun, quirky and experimental music. Coming out of lockdown, the band is beginning to start playing live shows again for the first time. They were after something exciting, artistic and fun to capture audiences attention whilst showcasing their song ‘Foxy’.

Screen Printing

One of my main areas of interest is screen printing. I have been exploring the theme of disconnect through colours, whilst also looking at different mediums and ‘forgotten’ artworks. I’ve been exploring this through the medium of tiles, and they're beautiful patterns that are made to be hidden forever on the surface of a wall.
