Hi, this is Dingcheng! As a Spatial Design student at Monash, I always enjoy exploring the relationship between social issues and the built environment. With the passage of time, contemporary life has become better and better. However, we cannot ignore the negative effects that follow. My final year project is an example of the critical role designers can play in adressing society’s ‘wicked problems’. It was a playful investigation of that pitted humanity’s hunter gatherer instinct against the protein problem.

Hunting games

The hunting experience is the first component of the meat experience museum, and it exposes visitors to various means of getting food, such as conventional tools hunting, fishing, bow hunting, and so on. Before they begin hunting, they must first put on virtual reality glasses to observe the animals; all of the creatures here are virtual, and no actual animals will be harmed. Only those who successfully catch prey in all four ways can advance to the next section, in order to increase people’s competitive spirit.

The future

Traditional animal farming emits a lot of greenhouse gases, as shown in the collage, which depicts a future scenario of what I believe people will eat. The collage depicts the background, bad environment, artificial intelligence, and the cultured meat factory on the table, implying that the meat that the child consumes is cultured meat. When the earth’s biological status worsened in 2050, people began to eat cultured meat to replace animal husbandry.
key words: cultured meat factory, AI, extreme weather

Meat process experience - the second section

After entering the second section, which is the meat exhibition and processing area, each visitor will be handed a piece of meat, which they can prepare and cook. the left-hand side The meat exhibition and processing room are on the right, and the kitchen is on the left.

Hunting Gloves

Hunting Gloves is a tableware consisting of many types of miniaturised hunting implements such as a spear, knife, and shovel, which I designed during the first half semester. The objective of this tableware is to emulate the way people hunt when they have dinner, to arouse people’s wild/ competitive instincts, and it will also be used in the kitchen, which is the last section of the meat experience museum I built.

Longitudinal Section

The general picture of the meat hall is shown in the longitudinal section. Visitors enter the hunting experience room from the right side, put on VR glasses, and then take a boat to the opposite side of the room to land on a platform. While on the boat, they must catch fish via fishing. When visitors arrive at the shore, they will hunt across the entire room; once they have obtained prey in all four directions, they will proceed to the left upper room to process meat; after processing and cooking, visitors will bring their meals downstair to dine.
