Hello, I’m Helena (Ellie) Ces, a design & business student who is graduating in 2022. I am specialising in communication design, specifically UX and branding design, as well as majoring in marketing. I am confident in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop and also have a high proficiency in Word, Sketch, Axure and Procreate. My main studio project consisted of redesigning for the not-for-profit organisation; AMWRRO. My final deliverables all share the common value of better communicating the existence of the organisation to the public. This project and type of design work is something I take pride in as a designer and marketer, I hope to work on similar projects in the future to best represent my creativity and skills as a communication designer & marketing major.

AMWRRO Logo

The Australian Marine Wildlife Research and Rescue Organisation (AMWRRO) is a not-for-profit organisation based in South Australia who rescue and rehabilitate injured marine life from Australian waters. When completing this hypothetical rebrand, the designs for AMWRRO need to be vibrant, bold and recognisable. This will allow for AMWRRO to stand out amongst the other series of marine life related organisation whilst appearing simple in its purpose. The icon features a dolphin as it is a recognisable marine animal whilst also being directly associated to Australian animals. The colours utilised are intended to embody the ocean waters of Australia whilst symbolising serenity and intelligence.

AMWRRO Beach Poster Campaign

The main way in which AMWRRO communicates with the general public is through those who get in contact with them about possibly injured or sick marine life that need help. In order to allow the public to learn about the existence of AMWRRO and therefore better the help the native fauna, a poster campaign could be implemented that are placed across a series of beaches to make it easier for the organisation to rescue and rehabilitate wildlife. This deliverable compliments the rebrand of AMWRRO in that it makes the organisation more accessible and friendly, whilst engaging a larger amount of the general public.

AMWRRO Online Campaign

The online campaign for AMWRRO works directly in conjunction with the beach poster campaign in that it uses posts similar to the printed posters. There are three different types of posts that are utilised; general posters that act as call to action for those who come into contact with any type of marine life, specific marine animal posters that provide information about how to care for a variety of species of marine fauna and photos of specific animals saved by AMWRRO to raise awareness on the species they come into contact with. This campaign has the aim of familiarising individuals with the organisation to ensure that they know how to contact them. Mockups sourced from Pixeden.

AMWRRO Beach Signs

The installation of permanent beach fixtures may also be a welcome addition to AMWRRO as it will allow for a series of information to be constantly found at beaches in which injured and sick marine life can be found. Two different signs can be found; one that provides general information of how to protect and conserve marine life and another that specifically highlights the actions that need to be taken when a certain type of marine animal needs assistance. Signs such as these will be strictly found at beaches and will work in conjunction with the poster campaign to reach as many people as possible and in turn ensure the survival of all Australian marine life.

‘Instruction’ Project, Bee Conservation Book

This project asked us to activate the problem-solving impulse of the brain by asking us to present information in an accessible manner to a younger audience. From this brief I decided to create a story book that follows a bee going through the world, more specifically how a person can create a garden that encourages bee conservation. The book itself also features a poster and stickers to create a more interactive element of the book that will engage children in establishing a better idea of how they can themselves grow a safe bee garden.

‘Don’t Make Me Think’, A Series of UX Works

A series of three different projects were undertaken to redesign a website or app based on the elements of the ‘Don’t Make Me Think’ novel by Steve Krug. These designs were improved and then made into prototypes to present my capabilities in UX. The first two designs looked at the established websites, SITO Styling and Cinema Nova and the final design looked at a UX app I had created previously known as Coven. These three different subjects are intended to demonstrate the different types of apps and websites that are available to the general public and the methods in which I would resolve such UX designs.
