I’m Jeren, an Engineer/Designer passionate about technology and its effect on our world. CODES is a project exploring the ways that Artificial Intelligence might influence Industrial design. I present three pieces of furniture that each combine traditional design techniques with AI in a unique way, providing insight into one potential future of product design.

ICON : Lounge

A database of iconic furniture designs was generated from the MoMA Collection. ICON : Lounge is the result of using AI to generate novel concepts using only this database of existing designs.

Design Framework

A refined design framework allowed for the seamless incorporation of AI into the design process. At each stage, the AI is able to present many divergent paths, enhancing the designer’s creativity.

NATURE: Chair

NATURE : Chair is a result of the juxtaposition of natural textures and artificial forms. Injection moulded plastic allows for the incorporation of highly organic geometry.

FORM : Stool

FORM : Stool is a close-to-direct translation of AI output into plausible object, creating unique geometry that defies traditional aesthetic principles.
