Hi There! I’m Kailey, a Melbourne-based graphic designer, exploring illustration, publication design, brand identity, and photography. For me, communication design provides us with a language to act in the ‘contact zone’. My studio is more about the craft of conveying positive messages through the creation of visual languages aimed to undertake social issues. In the Major campaign, I choose to explore “human health” to positively impact insomnia by creating an educational tool (game). If you’re interested in my work, feel free to get in contact.

Time to sleep – Major Campaign
Promoting healthy sleep is a big challenge and has become a strategic priority in public health, due to the severe consequences on students’ development and risk of mental health problems.
The ‘time to sleep’ campaign is a fun, ‘educational’ game themed around sleep hygiene to promote healthy sleep. This campaign aims to address the people who experience these issues (sleep disorder for students aged 12 to 18 years old). To project hopes to educate the public about good sleep habits.

Time to sleep – Campaign Poster
To distribute the positive impact in the area of human health, posters are part of this educational game. Posters can motivate viewers to learn more about specific ways to get healthy sleep. They can help us become more aware of the sleep issues we face in general. The posters also present facts found in the Design Research Kit (DRK), shown in the GIF image above.

Time to sleep – Game Board
The board game includes a series of behavioural and environmental suggestions to promote healthy sleep habits to the audience. In terms of visual language, I have created a series of illustrations and personalised elements enclosed in a house-shaped form. The board was printed in full colour on 250gsm sovereign offset stock and wrapped in cardboard on reverse. The purple, red and orange colours create a contrast between the contents whilst at the same time emphasising positivity.

Time to sleep – Chance (Suggestion) Cards
A fun and educational game themed around sleep hygiene for 2—4 players. Working with the chance and question cards (Image attached as chance cards). The rule is each time a player rolls as number 6, he or she draws a chance card, searches the house for the object (character) pictured on the card, then moves ahead (or back!) to a yellow spot. Otherwise, the player needs to use the dice to decide how many steps they should move. Along the way, players will also collect question cards. The first player to reach the end is the winner.
