Hi, I’m Lotta!
I enjoy concept-driven work, immersing myself in both print and digital projects that extend across publication design, brand identity and motion. My Everyday Messaging studio project allowed me to explore the concept of time, through the lens of an alphabet publication. The animation medium of kinegrams acted as the common thread between traditional and new media, bridging digital-esque motion through analogue methods.

Synchronical - Cover

Synchronical explores the concept of chaos vs order through the theory of time and entropy, documenting this by way of an analogue kinegram publication. Accompanying the alphabet publication, the tactile element of loose barrier grids were created for the reader to help further the idea that as a person they still hold agency over their decisions (no matter how small they may appear), informing the impact this has in creating either order or chaos.

Synchronical - Barrier Grids

The animation, which is based on principle of vision persistence, is created when an acetate barrier grid is overlaid and slid across the kinegram, allowing the blank spaces to reveal the individual sections of the pattern underneath, resulting in the brain lining the succession of appearing images together and thereby creating the illusion of fluid motion.

Synchronical - Index

The index highlights the individual kinegrams created for each letter and allows for an accessible overview of the alphabet book, both visually and through its written language.

Synchronical - Microsite (click image to play video)

A microsite was established as a digital extension to the physical publication. This application mimics the analogue animation method, linking back to the tactile element through a new media format.

Lucky

‘Lucky’ is a love letter to my mum in the form of a hard cover publication. It documents the collection of four-leaf clovers which she has hand-picked for my siblings and I over the years as a token of good luck. This book was created in hopes to be able to redirect and give back some of that luck she’s gifted us since we were young, with each clover representing a specific wish we hold for her.

Betty - Infographic Video (click image to play video)

Shot using a Super 8mm camera, ‘Betty’ follows an infographic video overlay format which seeks to instruct the viewer on the essentials needed for walking a dog. All sounds were sourced through creative commons and added in post-production.
