I think of myself as an illustrator first and designer second, so I've learned to make my own fun in a lot of my design projects. My favourite work has been my group projects, I've had some amazing luck to be paired with brilliant people in my time at Monash.
I just like to make stuff, especially dumb stuff, but it's nice to work with people and pretend to be smart sometimes.
When I started this degree as an art geek from rural Victoria, I thought I might become one of those too-cool academics and visit home as a bit of a snob. I turned out to be the same art geek as before, only hotter and can write an essay about why Apple and Facebook can kiss my ass.
Am I allowed to say that?

SecondBite Website Mockup
SecondBite's current website was boring, repetitive and inefficient. Here, I'm jazzing it up a tad. I hate minimalism, can you tell? I scanned some plant clippings to help SecondBite's site get a more organic feel seeing as they deal with a lot of fresh produce to distribute to those experiencing food insecurity. Their original colour palette (red, white and dark green) felt like they were imitating the Italian flag, which is strange for an Australian company. So I made it pastel instead. Pretty!

This page from the style guide I created for SecondBite tell you a little about the thought process of the logo redesign.

This page from my style guide shows off the typeface for the SecondBite redesign. I really like how clean and friendly it looks :)

Playing around with some examples of how the typeface, photography and new colour palette combine.

Panic at the Pandemic
An excerpt from an audio-visual essay made for my media degree. My group made connections between the experiences of minorities in times of pandemics and epidemics. For COVID-19, the Chinese are blamed. For AIDS, gay men were blamed. For the Spanish Flu, the Spanish were blamed. Even the "Red Scare" was plaguing people's minds, leading them to be suspicious of any foreigners. Many deaths have been caused not from disease but from misplaced anger. I guess the point of this essay is to say that people have not changed enough. Aren't we supposed to be civilised?

The Forest's Soul pages 22-23
This was probably the most enjoyable design project I've worked on, thanks to the storytelling of my friend and fellow design student Eliot Vogel. We worked on the worldbuilding and concept art together over zoom, and I can't wait to get a physical copy to him when I print it. The illustrations really were the focus for me, and it felt great to be properly drawing (and not just designing) again.
