EpiRing came to be after years of personal, ongoing frustration with existing solutions for combating anaphylaxis. I and others who suffer from anaphylaxis are required to always remain within arms reach of an auto-injector device in case a life-threatening reaction occurs. Existing solutions are too bulky and hence become a clear giveaway of the user's condition. Thus, many people who need auto-injectors are not carrying them on their person. Using the industrial design skills I have learnt, EpiRing was born - a new auto-injector designed to remove social stigma and improve practicality. With the appearance-conscious young adult demographic in mind, EpiRing is elegant and convenient.

EpiRing

The EpiRing is the modern solution for those with anaphylaxis. Smooth elegant lines in the design allow for both clean, discrete appearances and also offer a comforting palm moulded shape for the effective administration of epinephrine.

EpiRing - Model in context

Being only slightly larger than a standard car key, the EpiRing sits on a user's keyring with ease. The colours and metallic finish blend seamlessly with other modern products the user is likely to be carrying with them.

EpiRing - How it works

Utilising form, colour, and instruction, the EpiRing is easy to use and operate. The tapered shape combined with bevelled arrows along the side and the standout red tip allows the user to determine the needle direction quickly and easily. With a black cap hiding the injection site, the risk of accidental use is removed.

EpiRing - In use

Similarly to existing products, the EpiRing is administered into the thigh. The tapered form allows the user to get a firm and secure handle on the device when injecting the person in need.

EpiRing - Comparison

The project began due to my annoyance with existing auto-injectors being too bulky and childish in appearance. Here the EpiRing is notably smaller, contemporary and suited to a young adult in comparison to another current auto-injector.
